Ford F-150 Raptor R

Ford recently announced the arrival of the F-150 Raptor R model to the delight of many off-road truck lovers.

At the unofficial presentation, the new Ford Bronco Raptor first showed its qualities at an unknown location in the Johnson Valley, and then the cameras caught the Ford F-150 Raptor R in off-road action and acceleration on inhospitable terrain.

After more than a decade spent battling tough conditions and conquering huge desert dunes over three generations of off-road pick-up models, Ford introduced the new F-150 Raptor R – the fastest, most powerful, most extreme off-road desert model ever.

All three generations of the F-150 Raptor are inspired by the extreme desert racing trophy models that compete in the Baja 1000. Designed and engineered by Ford Performance, the 2023 F-150 Raptor R comes closest to delivering this kind of performance.

“The Raptor R is our ultimate Raptor,” said Carl Widmann, chief engineer of Ford Performance. “When customers experience the Raptor R in the desert and beyond – they will love every second of it.”

At the heart of the Ford F-150 Raptor R is a new 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that delivers 700 horsepower and 868 Nm of torque. Ford Performance has included the most powerful engine in its lineup – previously seen in the Mustang Shelby GT500 – optimizing it for Raptor-level off-road performance and Built Ford Tough durability. The result is the most torquey supercharged V8 in a production pick-up.

Ford Performance recalibrated this V8’s supercharger and installed a new pulley to optimize its power for off-road use, increasing low- and mid-range torque delivery. These changes help the Raptor R offer more performance at speeds where customers spend most of their time driving.

The interior is dominated by a 12-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4 technology, connected to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Raptor R also benefits from the Ford Power-Up wireless software update capability. These over-the-air updates can offer improvements throughout the vehicle – from the SYNC system to improved quality, capabilities, and convenience upgrades that enhance the ownership experience over time. Plus, since the screen is so big, navigation and climate controls are in one display—which makes using it less distracting overall, especially when you’re driving.

Both the Raptor R and the standard Raptor come standard with collision warning, automated emergency braking (AEB), lane-keeping assistance (LKA), and more. The Ford Co-Pilot360 advanced driving assistance system suite (ADAS) is included in both models, which includes features such as forward-collision warning and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic caution.

The US-market F-150 Raptor R will be available in eight colors, including a new Avalanche and Azure Gray Tri-Coat exterior paint that is offered for the first time in the Raptor lineup.
